Greetings everyone!

As we wave goodbye to summer and the leaves start to turn, another season is upon us – that's right, it’s the frenetic conference season. Copious amounts of coffee, informative presentations, and invigorating conversations potentially around every corner – it's time to buckle up!

Before you get swept up in the whirlwind of handshakes and presentations, take a moment to think about your pre-conference planning. Do you have a well-researched itinerary that saves your feet? Are you determined to be proactive, engage in relevant conversations? Remember that it’s not solely about collecting business contact information, but about building meaningful connections.

No conference experience is complete without communicating insights. Be ready to jot down key points, take plenty of photos, use your phone as a voice recorder for quick notes to write up later and share them with your team,or better yet, write a blog post detailing your experiences and takeaways.

And finally, post-conference engagement is key. Follow up on leads, connect on LinkedIn, and begin planning for the next conference. Your work doesn’t end when the conference does – it’s merely the beginning! In fact, this cycle of continuous planning, engaging, and learning is what keeps us all in pace with the fast-moving world of pharma.

And while you're at it, remember that you don't have to do it all alone. We, at Rx Communications, are here to lend our expertise at every stage - be it strategy and planning, speaker preparation, live congress coverage, or post-congress content dissemination. So, as you gear up for your next conference, remember we're right there with you to help ensure each event is a step forward.

Without further delay, let's dive into this month’s content.

Shining a Spotlight on Alzheimer's

September 21 markedWorld Alzheimer's Day, a day devoted to raising awareness and challenging the common stigma that surrounds Alzheimer's related dementia. At Rx Communications, we’re lucky enough to spend a lot of time working in this important therapeutic area, and so recognise the significance of this day and remain committed to supporting the understanding and ongoing research into this complex disease.

To support this, we embarked on the creation of a series of articles designed to delve deeper into Alzheimer's disease – exploring the latest research findings, potential treatments, and the impact on patients and their loved ones.

We're delighted to share our first article in this series, coming from the desk of medical writer, Beth Howe. Beth’s article offers an in-depth look at Alzheimer's disease, taking a look at the newest drug developments as well as exposing the shockingly large burden of illness; mostly on the carers. Stay tuned over the coming months as we unravel this topic further in our series of articles, alongside an upcoming series of publications and medical writing best practices. Read more here

How to make the most of conferences

Originally written closer to 2003, we have updated this to be a bit more relevant to 2023, removing now antiquated references to things such as CD-ROMS, for those of us old enough to remember these scratched, oft-malfunctioning shiny spinning discs.

Inside you'll find some neat tips for selecting conferences to attend and how to make the most of your time there. Read it here.

While browsing the archives we also found a very helpful article on how to write a conference report. If its useful to you take a moment to read it here.

Medicare Drug Price Negotiations

In recent weeks, the unfolding discourse around Medicare's initiative to negotiate drug prices has stirred the pharmaceutical arena. The bid, aimed at slashing drug costs for consumers and saving budgetary expenses, is applauded for its potential to enhance transparency and align US drug prices with international standards. However, critics argue that it may thwart pharmaceutical innovation, disrupt market dynamics, and potentially lead to a restricted drug formulary and supply shortages. Amidst the legal challenges from industry and a tapestry of opinions, the conversation continues toevolve.

The Year-End Hustle!

The Year-End Hustle!

As the close of 2023(!) is within sight, it's an opportune time to reflect on the year and gear up for what's ahead. For some of us. This time of year often brings a mix of anticipation and pressure – with year-end deadlines looming, budgetary considerations to tackle, and strategic planning required for the upcoming year. The trick (as always) is to remain focused, prioritise effectively, and ensure that your projects have the resourcing they need. If you're feeling the pinch and need a trusted pair of hands to help you cross the finish line, don't hesitate to get in touch.
